Prisma Illya debuted as a manga in 2007, offering a new tale of an alternate Fate/ universe. This alternate Fate/stay night timeline follows the journey of a young elementary school student, Illyasviel von Einzbern, who transforms into a Magical Girl when the Kaleidostick Magical Ruby chooses her as a more suitable master.

The series proved to be incredibly popular and has spawned two additional manga sequels, four anime seasons, a film, and an OVA.
