A Game from a Manga about Games
Did you know that the Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game was created based on a game in a manga? The manga's story follows the young boy Yugi Mutou, who loves playing games of all kinds. He becomes host to an alter-ego, which helps him solve all his conflicts through the medium of shadow games. The original manga was so popular that it spawned several spin-offs, two anime series, and even four animated movies.
Many of the spin-off anime and movies focus on the fictional card game, Duel Monsters (originally called Magic and Wizards). In Duel Monsters, players battle one another using cards to summon fantasy monsters. This fictional card game became the basis for the Yu-Gi-Oh trading card game we know today!
