Top 10 pink and blue-haired anime characters!

Welcome to the Solaris Blog! ヾ( ʚ̴̶̷  .̫ ʚ̴̶̷ )ノ”
Just before summer hits Japan in all its infernal glory, there is a rainy season. These storms are the harbingers of heat, humidity, and occasional 160 mph winds. Hell exists, and it is found in the land of the rising sun. ψ( ` ∇ ´ )ψ
But these dog days aren’t without their perks. As you walk with downcast eyes, sighing at your drenched shoes, you come across a pop of vibrant blue.
Hydrangeas nod calmly, lining paths and brightening the corners of gardens and parks everywhere. These flowers are as magical as they are beautiful, changing color according to the nutrients they take from the soil, like nature’s own Litmus paper. Here is an article about the science behind their spell, if you’re interested.
Immediately, I was reminded of Re:Zero’s iconic maid duo, Ram and Rem.
Rem and Ram Twins Ver. 1/7 Good Smile Company
With haircuts like theirs you could easily lose the twin demon maids in a hydrangea garden. They are even briefly compared to the blooms in the anime series.
To celebrate the blooming of these wonderful flowers, we selected 10 of our favorite pink and blue-haired characters!

Tickled Pink

The color pink on a hydrangea happens when the soil is on the alkaline side. Characters with hair this color are often sweet, dreamy, and warm-hearted. (˘ ◡˘🌸)

Madoka Kaname (Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica)

Kaname Madoka Rabbit Ears Ver. 1/4 FREEing
Madoka Kaname is the quintessential pink heroine. She is sentimentality incarnate, drawing from her ability to feel for others to fuel her power. Her pure and innocent soul can color even the grayest of grieving souls!

Nadeshiko Kagamihara (Yuru Camp)

Yuru Camp Kagamihara Nadeshiko 1/7 Wing
Did you know Nadeshiko is also the name of a flower? One that is as frilly and messy as this camper’s hair once she’s done running through a field. This solo camping neophyte is the energetic side of pink, the one that motivates us to get out of bed and explore the world because of her contagious liveliness!

Sakura Haruno (Naruto)

Naruto Shippuden Haruno Sakura MegaHouse
The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all, goes the old saying. Sakura has been through heartbreak and wars yet she manages to stay true to her kind and cheery self. Her soul is the essence of unwavering love in all of its fierce (and sometimes dark) glory!

Natsu Dragneel (Fairy Tail)

Fairy Tail Natsu Dragneel 1/8 Bell Fine
Pink isn’t just for girls. Boys can rock it too, and no one does it better than Natsu! OK, others have been rising to the top when it comes to rosy locks (*glances at Yuji Itadori*), Natsu wears it best. His temper is fiery, but his heart is gentle…even if it doesn’t (never) show under all the layers of crazy. (っಠ‿ಠ)っ

Perona (One Piece)

One Piece Perona Timeskip Ver. 1/8 MegaHouse
This is what happens when a personality can be defined in one word: sugar. Perona is weaponized cuteness. The doe-eyed Hollow wears frills galore, whimsical accessories and has a cackle that haunts you to the end of your days. Bratty, childish and with a streak of tsundere, this gothic lolita is one that will have you pulling your hair, whatever color it may be!

Feeling Blue

The blue color appears when the soil is on the acidic side. Characters with this hair color are often calm, centered, and maybe a little aloof.

Rimuru Tempest (That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime)

Tensura Rimuru Tempest 1/7 Shibuya Scramble Alpha Satellite
His hair retains the color of his original slime body. Rimuru doesn’t let his high status and abilities affect his naturally quirky and kind-hearted attitude. He may be the king of the Jura Federation, but his heart is still that of the helpful and naive salaryman of days past!

Konan (Naruto)

Naruto Shippuden Konan MegaHouse
Konan is like the deceptively calm waters of a deep lake: her surface doesn’t let through the complex currents that pull underneath. There are streams of heartbreak and compassion, of wits and resilience, and she hides it all under a placid, almost bitter expression.

Rei Ayanami (Neon Genesis Evangelion)

Evangelion Rei Ayanami 1/7 Kaiyodo
Speaking of indecipherable expressions, we couldn’t forget to mention the most iconic blue-haired character, Rei Ayanami. Her RBF is so iconic that seeing her in any other expression more intense than a content smile is unsettling. (´・ᴗ・`)

Rin Shima (Yuru Camp)

Yuru Camp Rin Shima 1/10 Alter
The name of the series comes from Rin’s aura: she’s the epitome of introversion. This quiet and reserved high schooler enjoys her solitude so much that she camps in the heart of winter just to read a book in a completely empty campsite. Of course, since she met Nadeshiko that has changed a little bit… (* ̄∀ ̄)

Aqua (Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!)

Konosuba Aqua 1/7 Kadokawa
Here is an exception to the list: Aqua has all the attributes of a pink-haired character. Everything I said at the beginning of the section is null and void when it comes to her. She is only blue because she’s a water goddess. There is acuity in there, and it shows up at unexpected times, but her INT lacks so heavily that she needs a critical roll to get it. (; ¬_ლ)
We hope you enjoyed this one!
Until next time! ヾ(^∇^)
