ヽ(゜∇゜)ノ

The popular anime series Jujutsu Kaisen has a cast of dark, modern and cool characters, and eStream doesn’t disappoint with their Shibuya Scramble releases! Anticipation has only been building up with every announcement. I mean, just look at the lineup that’s been released so far:And what’s scheduled to ship out soon for those who pre-ordered on time:By the way, Inumaki is still available for pre-order and Yuuta, Nanami and Gojo are available brand new at our store! It’s your chance to get ahold of these four BAMFs (๑・ω-) especially Nanami.(´♡ᴗ♡`) This writer is a bonafide Nanami stan and I tell you from the bottom of my heart that this Shibuya Scramble figure is the absolute best. Second only to MegaHouse’s scale, maybe.

But back to the (dark) star of the day: the mysterious jujutsu talent, the estranged son of the Zen’in clan, Fushiguro Megumi. Though the first season Jujutsu Kaisen series focuses on Itadori Yuuji, the charismatic dark horse who thinks swallowing cursed objects is an acceptable course of action, the one with world-altering potential is actually Fushiguro.

A Quick Recap

If you haven’t watched Jujutsu Kaisen yet, stop everything you’re doing, put aside your current series and go catch up on it. It’s popular for a reason. GIFs aren’t enough to explain what a visual masterpiece of an anime that this series is. ∩( ✧Д✧)∩ And it’s even more of a masterpiece for character presentation and character development, with a roster full of captivating personalities, shining with qualities and weighed down with realistic flaws. It’s as funny as it is dark, and the fights are super thrilling to watch! In the world of Jujutsu Kaisen, human suffering gives origin to curses. (っ◞‸◟c) 💭These curses, amalgamations of the woeful energy human beings give off, have the power to inflict even more suffering on people. ༼ง ◉_◉༽ง Jujutsu sorcerers are the (un)lucky few who can see them, so they train in specialized schools to learn how to exorcise those curses. But their exorcism isn’t just chanting words from a book and splashing holy water. No… …they beat the sh*t out of those curses.

(ง⇀‸↼)ง

The struggle between sorcerers and curses gets physical, and is quite often deadly. Even so, sometimes being a sorcerer is not something you choose; it’s something that you are born into.Fushiguro Megumi is one such sorcerer. An estranged child of the Zen’in clan, a powerful, millennial sorcerer family, he was the one who inherited the clan’s Ten Shadows Technique. Not only that, he’s also a very apt user of the technique, earning him the admiration of classmates and teachers alike. There are even hints in the story that Megumi is supposed to surpass Gojo himself.

Puppeteering Shadows

The Ten Shadows technique consists of using shadows to summon entities called shikigami. These shikigami resemble animals, and they can aid the jujutsu sorcerer in a variety of ways. The starter shikigami is the pair of black and white Divine Dogs; from there, the sorcerer can go on a journey to catch’em all.

(*・_・)ノ~~~~~~◎OK, kinda. There’s only 10 to master, and they’re obtained through summonings. So far, at least in the anime, Megumi has shown mastery of the Divine Dogs, the Great Serpent, a toad, a charging elephant and Nue, the owl-like shikigami that appears in this Shibuya Scramble figure!Nue’s main abilities are high-speed flight and ⚡ electro-shock wings ⚡, portrayed here surrounding Megumi. This shikigami is an absolute lifesaver, pulling him out of sticky situations throughout season 1!In order to summon his shikigami, Megumi uses his hands to create the shadow of that creature, which you can also see in this figure. This summoning method is also seen in Kotobukiya’s ARTFX 1/8 scale, in which he summons the white Divine Dog.
He keeps a calm and collected expression while summoning it, focusing all of his power into the shadows.Look at the detail on the base: the source of the shadows that form Nue is Megumi’s own shadow, which take shape and flow upwards as they’re infused with his cursed energy. Also, from a sculptural point of view, it’s a clever use of the scenery to support the shikigami!

(●´・∀・)bMegumi may be all poker-faced, but Nue definitely isn’t. The shikigami has a permanent snarl with uncanny human-like teeth, and wolf-like eyes behind a white mask. Out of all shikigami revealed so far, Nue is the one with the most frightening face.

(メ゚皿゚)A face only a sorcerer could love. (´ ∀`;)

Out of all the Megumi figures released so far, this Shibuya Scramble takes the cake when it comes to dynamism. When you’re a summoner, your pose options are a little limited compared to brawler-type sorcerers, such as Itadori Yuuji. Just take a look at our store to see how mobile that boy is! Still, no other figure that I’ve seen so far shows the Ten Shadows technique this well. Kotobukiya’s scale figure does it well, but I find that Nue is just overall a more epic summon than the Divine Dog. Wings are cool.

ଘ(˵╹ᴗ╹)One figure that maybe comes close to portraying the technique well is Bandai Spirits’ Figuarts ZERO of Megumi:
In it, you can see Megumi’s domain expansion, the Chimera Shadow Garden. This figure is currently available brand new at our store, if you’re interested!

(。•̀ᴗ -)☆Fushiguro Megumi is scheduled to release at the end of September 2024. Pre-orders for this awesome Shibuya Scramble figure are currently open at our store, so don’t miss out! These action-packed scale figures are selling out like hot cakes.

More Jujutsu Kaisen Shibuya Scramble

If Nue’s mug might be a bit too uncanny to be displayed on your shelf, worry not: 2024 has other Jujutsu Kaisen figures for us! Getou Suguru looks absolutely diabolical and Itadori Yuuji is about to smash some curse’s head in with his Divergent Fist technique! And with the second season already out, we can expect more awesomeness to come out of eStream. I’m still waiting for Nobara to show up…
