Bombergirl is a Japanese arcade game developed by Konami. As you can likely guess from the title, it is a spin-off from the Bomberman series. The gameplay in Bombergirl is just as expected with one major caveat, all of the characters are humanoid girls depicted in a bishoujo moe visual style.
Want something to sell well? In Japan, just make it into an anime girl!
As for gameplay, eight players are split into two teams of four, with the aim to destroy the other team's base by placing bombs and using character-specific abilities. In the world of Bombergirl, it's not about the size of your bomb, but how you use it.
After a match, characters on the losing team are displayed with their clothes burned apart in a comically ecchi manner.
Since Bombergirl has gained popularity, figures of some of the game's characters have been produced.
Pine, The Idol With an IQ of 10 Billion!
One such character is Pine, the sub-leader of the Bomber Idol Unit, Pretty Bombers.
The members of the pretty bombers all take a different playing card suit and Pine is the Ace of Clovers.
She is a super-genius with a self-proclaimed IQ of ten billion. She has a smug and sassy nature to juxtapose her cutesy way of speaking. She always refers to herself as a genius. Pine often speaks in the third person, and specifically calls herself "Pinyan." This is a portmanteau of her name and "nyan", the Japanese onomatopoeia for a cat's meow.
Pine's name is derived from the pineapple fruit, hence her yellow color scheme. It is also the nickname used for the grenades she wears in her hair.
On her back, she carries a bag that is a throwback to the classic Bomberman enemy, Pass.
A Vampire Hunter and Succubus Join the Battle!
The game also features various Konami crossover characters among its original cast, such as Grim Aloe from Quiz Magic Academy and Sepia Belmont, an original character inspired by Castlevania, both of which have figures available!
Sepia Belmont is a vampire huntress from the Belmont family clan in this universe. She wields a chain whip designed to kill vampires, fit for a Belmont.
The original design for Sepia was a nun-like character with heavy yandere vibes.
She is described as being so full of affection that it turns her to the point of madness and so she drives into her prey with eternal love! The figure is based on her summer dominatrix-esq swimsuit skin and portrays the evangelist of infinite love very well.
As an added bonus, her pareo can also be removed for a spicier display option.
From Quiz Magic Academy, a quiz game (if that wasn't super obvious from the title) we have the Coquettish Lil Girl, Grim Aloe.
Grim Aloe is a succubus that looks like a little devil with horns, wings, and a tail. She is an imouto type character and calls potential victims onii-chan to seduce them.
As the typical 500 year old loli characters usually go in Japan, her costume designs are usually over the top with fan service and her personality is very playful and teasing. The figure is based on a cheerleader skin and so she is depicted with pom-poms!
One of the big selling points for games like this is the variety of character designs and personalities. There is a little something for everyone and the diversity adds to the fun!
