Welcome to the Solaris Blog! ヾ( ʚ̴̶̷ .̫ ʚ̴̶̷ )ﾉ”
And take your shoes off, please. We’re joining Rin, from the series Laid-Back Camp for a refreshing foot bath!
Even in this hot and humid Japanese summer, this figure looks soooo refreshing…because that’s iyashikei for you! Which, as you may have noticed, because I wear it on my (digital) forehead, is my favorite genre. ( ´ω｀)
For those unfamiliar with the term, iyashikei is a slice of life subgenre, which focuses on the characters' peaceful lives. It is the sort of escapism that brings you to relaxing, healing worlds, instead of action-packed worlds full of adventure. ( ˘ω˘ )
When iyashikei characters are brought to the 3D world by the hands of skilled artists, this is the result: a figure that emanates zen and relaxation. ⊹╰(⌣ʟ⌣)╯⊹
But first, a quick intro to this sweet anime:
Laid-Back Camp, or Yurucamp in Japanese, is a slice of life anime that follows a group of high school girls who have a budding love for the outdoors. The story takes place in several different locations across the Tokai region. The girls live in Yamanashi Prefecture, but quite often venture to other places, such as scenic campsites in Shizuoka for sweeping views of Mount Fuji, highlands nestled in the mountains of Nagano, and the stunning Izu seaside. (✧ᗜ✧)
A great thing about this anime is that nearly all locations shown in it are real and are eagerly awaiting your visit, should you be the type of otaku who also loves the outdoors! (●⌒ᴗ⌒)ﾉ All locations are detailed in the Anime Site Mapping Project, on seichi map, and in great detail on The Infinite Zenith.
Also, if you love easy-to-cook camping food, this anime series has plenty of delicious recipes. The nice thing about these is that you don’t need to be outside to enjoy these dishes!
So, if you like the beautiful scenery of Japan, real locations that you can visit, and delicious campfire food, Laid-Back Camp is the perfect series for you! (っˆڡˆς)🍖
But if you're here just to learn more about the pretty girl, then here's the good part:
Rin Shima is one of the main characters. She’s a quiet, reserved girl who attends Motosu High School. A quintessential introvert, she is happy being by herself in the middle of nature, which is one of the reasons why she started going solo camping. But that doesn’t mean she’s gloomy; Rin does have fun on her trips!
And she’s not unsociable either; her gentle nature actually attracts people to her. It’s just that while people are out trying to set up a tent in the school grounds, Rin is chilling in the library with a good book between occasional visits from her best friend, Ena Saito.
After an interesting encounter with the new girl Nadeshiko Kagamihara, who had just transferred from Shizuoka, Rin has been coming out of her shell, as well as teaching her classmates how to properly enjoy what nature in Japan has to offer, even in the off-season.
In this 1/7 scale by AmiAmi, Rin lets her hair down and relaxes at a foot bath. This is a very interesting figure because it’s the only one that shows her with her hair down; usually, Rin has her hair up in a bun, which Ena likes to style.
All of her other figures show her with that hairstyle even when she’s in different outfits, such as this airy white dress by Wanderer or this colorful furisode by FuRyu.
Both figures are available in our store and currently on sale, so order today to take advantage of these awesome deals!
Book in hand, Rin doesn’t seem to have a care in the world… (✿•ᴗ•)📖
She is just turning the page, a small detail that goes such a long way in adding a little bit of action into this otherwise very still pose. It helps bring the figure to life; it’s almost a scene in real life, not just a still picture. ( ￣ω￣)
The anime has the same vibe, with panning shots, neutral colors and at times no soundtrack. Because most of the camping is done during the fall and winter, some may find the palette a little dull. Some also find it too slow and drawn out for an anime, but that’s iyashikei for you; the point is to take in the view, because that’s half the story.
And, in the case of this series, it also wants to inspire you to visit those locations. Tokai is right between Kanto and Kansai, so it fits during a trip between Tokyo and Osaka, for example. So why not?ヾ(ﾟ∀ﾟ○)ﾂ
The figure comes with two face plates: a resting nice face and a slight smile, as if she had just noticed you arriving. It’s a subtle difference, but the magic is in the details. The atmosphere is so serene you almost don’t want to intrude, for fear of ruining it. (✿❛.❛)
The neutral color palette, matte paint job and detailed texture on the base really adds to the realism and the soothing effect. I can almost feel the warm hot spring water bubbling under my feet… ∘˚˳° (*´∀`*) ∘˚˳°
This serene figure of Rin by AmiAmi will be released at the end of March 2023. Pre-orders are currently open and there is also an Early Bird discount for a limited time. I know today we’re all about relaxation, but make sure not to miss out on this deal! Getting the best of a nature experience includes a good deal of right timing as well. (◔ᴥ◔)
However, if you prefer classic winter time Rin in solo camping mode, we also have figures ranging from her looking cozy in her uniform (Pop Up Parade), riding her trusty scooter (Alter), and finally chilling at the campsite (Wing). All of these scales are in stock and ready to ship!
But if you prefer camping with friends, worry not: all of Rin’s classmates also have cute figures to join her on your display shelf. Wing has just released a 1/7 scale of Aoi Inuyama, and will soon release 1/7 scales of Ena Saito and Chiaki Ogaki. Pre-orders are still open, so don’t waste any time!
And, of course, we have lots of Nadeshiko figures. She’s Rin’s polar opposite and newfound friend. My personal favorites are the cute little PLUM figure, because of the lamp (it’s so important to her (´ ⌣`ʃƪ) ), the 1/7 scale by Wing (because it's quintessential Nadeshiko), and the DX figma (because of blanket burrito that also comes with the DX Nendoroid)
So, does this make you want to go camping yet? I certainly feel like I could go this weekend.ヽ( ･∀･)ﾉ
We hope you enjoyed this one!
Until next time! ヾ(＾∇＾)
