Looking Glass, An Artistic Wonderland

Rosuuri's first solo exhibition "Looking Glass" was held from Thursday, November 2, 2023 to Thursday, November 23, 2023. Using Alice in Wonderland as a theme, Rosuuri created her own Wonderland for you to explore her original characters, White Rabbit (Shiro Usagi) and Cheshire Cat. If you didn't get a chance to visit, we got you covered! The front of the building invited you to take a peek through the looking glass, into the fantasy world created. The large key visual displayed on the window entices you to take a deeper look. On the other side, you could watch a video recording of Rosuuri actually drawing the image. It was neat to see the process and the final product! After diving in with both feet, you were greeted with the merch table! Like any good otaku exhibit, there had to be limited merchandise. The exhibits at the WAEN gallery are usually free so that gives you a little more pocket money to go crazy. As the star characters, White Rabbit and Cheshire Cat were prominently displayed on posters, tapestries, acrylic stands and the works! To the left and right, life size character panels of both characters were there to escort you to the main art displays. With the Alice in Wonderland theme, the addition of playing card suits were added to their outfits. If you are thinking that White Rabbit looks familiar, Rosuuri uses her as her VTuber model under the Rosu persona. The contrast between White Rabbit and Cheshire is expertly done and the character panels were a great introduction for them. White Rabbit is usually portrayed in Rosuuri’s art as being bright, cheerful, modest and wholesome.Usually….On the other hand, Cheshire Cat can be a bit tsundere, cheeky and stand-offish. I think how vastly different these two characters are visually, really highlights Rosuuri’s skill. She is able to create character designs which have visual appeal, are very alluring and highlight attractive features without really being ecchi or purposefully “adult oriented.”Of course, she is also able to create more risqué images if desired, but true skill comes from the more subtle approach. When I am finally able to complete my doctorate degree in degeneracy, my dissertation will be on what makes the perfect waifu. You can be sure Rosuuri will have her own section. At the gallery, over 80 works were on display, including her other original characters Astrea, Chiharu, and Eve. Towards the exit, a wall of art from some of Rosuuri’s collaborations and commissions were displayed to allow you to fully appreciate the range of talent she possesses. From Azur Lane, to Arknights to VTubers like Hololive, Rosuuri’s artistry has touched numerous IP’s from all types of media! And right before you left, you could see her hand drawn illustrations commemorating this great exhibit!

A White Rabbit Is All You Need

Missed the event? Well, if you are a fan of Rosuuri and want to bring a cute little White Rabbit home for yourself, you are in luck! There are two versions for pre-order, one which comes with a tapestry of the illustration used as the figure design and the other is just the figure.
The idea behind the figure is that this beauty wanted to show off her neat little bunny girl costume……but ended up feeling embarrassed. Being the good, wholesome girl she is, she attempts to cover herself and hide it. Her embarrassed expression was brilliantly recreated and Otaku Toys brings Rosuuri’s illustration to life! The sculpt and pose are all around well done.
White Rabbit is a bishoujo figure that maintains the grace and class with which she was originally envisioned. The white bunny outfit has nice details as it hugs her body and feels realistic. The strings along the sides give it a bit more unique feel than the hundreds of figures with the same old strapless leotard and adds to the visual appeal.

The cardigan is another impressive point. The way Otaku Toys managed to design it, it looks like it has a fabric texture. The detailed stitching looks pretty good and you have to admire the subtle details Rosuuri includes. That is a cute bunny pocket and nicely done heels!
The way the cardigan hangs around White Rabbit is absolutely flawless. It is a testament to Rossuri’s genius when creating her artistic masterpieces. The exposed shoulders allow for contrast and create an air of vulnerability by having her “goods” to still be mostly visible.
From behind, more magic happens. As the cardigan wraps around her hips and helps to create a feminine silhouette, there is a dainty little tail to catch it. They say there are two types of men, and this figure has something for everyone. ┌༼▀̿̿Ĺ̯̿̿▀̿༽┘
The pose solidifies this figure in the SSS+ rank. With her leg slightly raised and her torso pulling away from the viewer there is great sense of motion! The flowing hair adds to that dynamism and adds another layer of depth. The slightly arches back helps give a slightly different visual depending on the angle you view it from!
Bunny girl figures tend to be overly fan-servicey but this one breaks the mold! It is a great addition to any collection that you don’t have to hide when family comes over. Afterall, who wouldn’t like a cute bashful girl on their shelf!

Let us know which Rosuuri illustration you hope gets a figure next. I have my fingers crossed for Cheshire Cat.

I hope you enjoyed this one!
