Welcome to the Solaris Blog! ヾ(῀ʚ̴̶̷́ .̫ ʚ̴̶̷̥̀ ῀)ノ”
Today’s Early Bird special is Kaguyahime from the Japanese folktale Taketori Monogatari: The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter!
The beautiful princess really comes to life as a 1/7th scale figure in this release by newcomer Genesis!
If you’re not familiar with the folktale, make sure to check it out (Japanese/English)!
Kaguyahime has been sculpted to include the five treasures she requested from her suitors. Partially hidden by the sleeve of her robe is jeweled tree from Hourai and draped over her right arm is the fire-rat robe! ٩(♡ε♡ )۶
Positioned by her waist is the dragon neck jewel (reminiscent of a pearl) and beneath that, a string of cowry shells.
If you’re wondering where Buddha’s stone begging bowl is, just take a quick step back. Her base is made to look like the treasure!
The attention to detail with this figure is also remarkable - check out the different moon motifs found on and around the figure! Her hair ornament is shaped like a crescent moon and dangling from this is a small lantern with a moon inside! (ෆˊ͈ ु꒳ ूˋ͈ෆ)
This figure also comes with a voice feature, so Kaguyahime can speak to you! ପ(⑅ ॣ•͈૦•͈ ॣ)ଓ
Genesis is a pretty new manufacturer in the figure market, so we’ve received some questions about their track record thus far. And while they are quite new to the game, their Dante figure from Devil May Cry has received great feedback from the community!
Make sure to check out their video about making Kaguyahime as well, as it really illustrates the process of creating a figure!
