“I’ll become a witch!”

Pre-Order Elaina Now!

Welcome to the Solaris Blog! ヾ( ʚ̴̶̷  .̫ ʚ̴̶̷ )ノ”
Who is this beauty, whose delicate steps barely make a sound on the pavement stones? Who is this graceful witch, whose ashen hair flows in the wind like the sweet fragrance of lilies-of-the-valley? That’s right, it’s Elaina! ԾᴗԾ§
Majo no Tabitabi - TENITOL - Elaina (FuRyu)
FuRyu is releasing another figure of the sweet-but-a-bit-cocky wandering witch; this time, portraying the beginning of Elaina’s journey when she was a young student of magic.
If you’ve never heard of this witch before…oh, you poor, unfortunate soul. q(╯ᆺ╰๑) You have lived in the darkness, not knowing there is one who is even more beautiful than the sun! So rejoice and pay attention, for I shall tell you of the tale of the Wandering Witch.

*gasps for air* (○口○ ) I can’t keep this up. My chuuni ways are long gone. But seriously, here’s a quick summary for you:
Wandering Witch (Majo no Tabitabi) is an anime adaptation of a 2016 light novel series by Jougi Shiraishi. At first, it seems to be a sweet, unassuming fantasy anime set in a vaguely medieval world where magic is real. You know, the type of world that is full of challenges, opportunities for self-reflection and second chances for the unlucky few whose souls were harvested by the evil Truck-kun too soon. (。⨱ω⨱)
But as we travel and meet the denizens of the different kingdoms, we get a little taste of the darkness that lies within each and every one of them. At times, it’s bitter. Other times, it just… leaves a strange feeling in your mouth. (´~`◦ ;) Like fondant. Beautiful, seemingly perfect, but it just tastes…off. The hidden horror of the human psyche peeks through the veneer of kindness and good intentions at times, and it even spills out in one particularly gory episode. (ᅌᴗᅌ* )
Our main character Elaina is not perfect either, though she paints herself to be since the story is from her perspective. She is beautiful, talented, and hardworking, like any ideal protagonist should be…but also conscious of all that sets her apart from the others, and quite proud of it. That is the odd aftertaste someone with a personality like that leaves on people who meet them.

The young witch narrates the tales of her own journey just like her favorite book, the Adventures of Nike, and doesn’t skimp on words to flatter her own beauty. She thinks of herself as pretty as a flower, as delicate as a doll, and even more radiant than the sun! Claims that we can’t deny, obviously, but…it’s not very hero-like of her. It’s main character syndrome, dark fantasy version. d(˘ω˘๑)
“A spoonful of sugar makes the medicine go down” is an accurate description of how the anime feels: mystery, romance, horror, drama, all peppered with light-hearted fun and sweet moments in between. Essentially, an emotional rollercoaster in 12 episodes, each with an interesting theme for reflection.

Personally, I find that Elaina’s self-centered attitude — though annoying at times — makes her a refreshingly realistic character. It’s a flaw that matches her abilities and ambitions. Definitely worth a watch if you want to see what a protagonist can be if we allow them to be a little more than just “the good guy”!
Wandering Witch Elaina TENITOL figure
Besides, the anime is about a journey, after all. And in this figure by FuRyu, Elaina is pictured at the beginning of it: here, she’s 15 years old, happy and confident as the youngest to have passed the magical exams in the entire kingdom of Robetta. She skips brightly on the stone steps, her academic robes flaring out behind her with the movement. (ᴖ◡ᴖ)♪

Elaina turns to smile at passersby, being casually glamorous as she does so. This witch in the making could have been a modern-day idol with how natural she is! (✧ᗜ✧)
Wandering Witch Elaina FuRyu figure
This figure has a pedestal for a base, because of course. It mimics a Greek column, hinting at Elaina’s pursuit of knowledge. When she’s placed on the pedestal, her height is about 22 cm (8.58 in) tall, which actually helps her fit in with other figures of her also made by FuRyu:
Majo no Tabitabi - Elaina - F:Nex - 1/7 (FuRyu)
The first one they released was of the happy, newly-graduated witch atop her broom, gliding over the world in her quest for refinement. This cheerful 1/7 scale of Elaina is currently available brand new at our store, so go check it out(。•̀ᴗ -)☆
Majo no Tabitabi - Elaina - F:Nex - 1/7 - Summer Dress Ver. (FuRyu)
The second figure released was also a 1/7 scale, but of a more mature, contemplative Elaina (this figure is also taller at 27 cm, or 10.53 in). We’ll hazard a guess that this is after her journeys, having reached the sea at the end of her travels and seen everything, both good and bad. This ethereal figure of Elaina in a summer dress is honestly too beautiful to pass up, so don’t miss out on this chance to snag a sweet deal on this stunning scale(・。-;
See the progression? I love that the same company chose to portray different moments in the journey of this sweet wandering witch. From the bright-eyed glimmer of confidence to the distant gaze out to the sea, you can clearly notice how much Elaina grew! (๑′ᴗ‵๑)

So, if you’re looking to kickstart your collection, the most recent release, of Elaina the trainee witch, is actually the perfect starting point. While the earlier two figures are scales (and priced as such), this release is a TENITOL figure. In brief terms, the TENITOL series is about simplified and more affordable figures that still value quality.

I love Elaina I bought all of her figure’s so far, and they are some of the most well detailed in my collection. I am hooked to the series too, the light novels are a nice treat, and seeing what kind of antics Elaina gets into is great.

Elaina is a character I wish we saw more often in anime.
