Today’s Early Bird special is Beetlejuice: the next gender-bending horror Bishoujou in Kotobukiya’s popular series!
The crude and foul-mouthed “ghost with the most” from the titular film has undergone quite a sexy transformation thanks to illustrator Shunya Yamashita.
Beetlejuice’s (or Betelgeuse) dirty and disheveled striped suit has been swapped for a much cuter minidress and tailcoat, while her bright green hair has been pulled back in a ponytail. Even the shadows around the eyes have been transformed into a sweet makeup style!
Her long lashes, small fangs, and tangle of curly locks are so sweet yet sinister!
The details on Beetlejuice’s outfit are definitely worth checking out - the velvety lining of her tailcoat has been perfectly sculpted and painted.
Compared to the painting of her other clothes, like the matte texture of her tights, this detail is really amazing!
Taken from the scene where Beetlejuice negotiates with Lydia, this bishoujou is posed reclining comfortably against a tombstone.
And it’s not just any tombstone - it’s Barbara Maitland’s tombstone, which has been recreated perfectly!
To really finish off the scene, Beetlejuice is even posed filing her nails.
