Welcome to the Solaris Blog! ヾ( ʚ̴̶̷ .̫ ʚ̴̶̷ )ノ”

It seems like Apex is fully committed to action RPG Zenless Zone Zero. Shortly after Genshin Impact developer miHoyo launched ZZZ last year, Apex started providing a steady stream of figures from the series. The core cast of characters new players are exposed to, Anby, Nicole, Nekomata and Billy were brought to life in some nicely designed figures by Apex. They captured each character's essence from the cyberpunk fantasy world and focused on poses that fit their personalities. Given matching bases, it is very easy to display them together.

The hype for the game has died down since release but player numbers seem healthy. For miHoyo games you either love the world and characters enough to put up with monotonous gameplay and boring grinds or you move on to something else. One thing no one can argue against is that they really know how to create interesting characters and develop them. One of the early banners featured Ellen Joe and she quickly became a fan favorite.

The high school student turned part time maid, Ellen Joe is a member of Victoria Housekeeping. She has a dry personality and is a bit lazy making her a terrible maid but well loved for the same reasons. The laid back and aloof shark girl provides some humor to the story and is endearing thanks to her loyalty. In combat she is quite useful as a strong attacker incorporating ice attributes.

Titled Monday to Friday, Apex has set out to create a figure of the lovable shark girl focusing on her school days. It is starkly different in design from the other ZZZ figures Apex put out which isn't a bad thing.

As part of Apex’s new LIMEPIE series, the first major difference you may notice is the greatly reduced price. I haven't been able to find any official announcement or description from Apex about the focus of the LIMEPIE series but my best guess is budget friendly offerings. One of the ways to accomplish this is scaling down the size. Ellen Joe is listed as a 1/8 scale whereas the Cunning Hares crew were listed as 1/7 scales.
Ellen's listless expression has an endearing charm. The boredom and lack of energy oozing from this figure is exactly what we would expect from Ellen.

Her outfit is a bit simple but faithful to the in-game design. A white, button up shirt and blue skirt is seifuku-esque. The skirt has some pleats providing texture and a more realistic look.

Apex kept her accessories intact. Her choker, hair clips and even lollipop are all present and look decent.
Ellen's shark tail is painted nicely and has a sheen to it. All of the detail found in-game has been reproduced in figure form. For this figure, the VHS tape base has been tossed for a more appropriate one. The school chair and wood floor complete the visual.

Set to release late 2025, Ellen is currently available for pre-order and eligible for an early bird discount. For the price it is a great pick up but definitely not as detailed as the other ZZZ figures. For those looking for a higher quality figure, you are also in luck. Apex has announced figures for Ellen and the rest of the Victoria Housekeeping crew following the same theme as their previous Cunning Hares figures! You will have to wait a while as they are still in development with no current availability date yet.
