Our last Mushoku Tensei figure gave us Sylphiette in full mama mode, enjoying a peaceful moment at home with Lucy. MegaHouse’s new Eris figure goes in a very different direction. Another Greyrat heroine. Considerably less domestic stability.

Eris Boreas Greyrat first appears as the violent young daughter of the Boreas family, with Rudeus hired to teach her magic, mathematics and basic manners. She responds to this arrangement in the traditional Eris fashion: with shouting, threats and physical violence. Over time, however, she begins to respect Rudeus and develops into one of his most loyal companions.

The pair find themselves on the Demon Continent, forcing them to travel home through a world filled with monsters, hostile territory and people much stronger than either of them. Eris changes enormously during that journey. She is still impulsive and quick to reach for her sword, but she becomes more disciplined, protective and aware of just how much further she has to grow.

After finally returning home, Eris and Rudeus share an intimate night together. She leaves soon afterward with a badly worded note, intending to train until she becomes strong enough to stand beside him. Rudeus naturally interprets it in the most emotionally destructive way possible.

Season 3 is finally bringing Eris back into focus with her training arc. Her body is leaner, her sword is considerably more serious and she looks ready to solve years of romantic misunderstanding through overwhelming violence.

MegaHouse’s new figure is using a look familiar to those who have seen season 2. The Melty Princess Eris: Soine da Nyan version recreates Eris in her memorable cat ear cloak and nightgown, lying down as she nervously invites Rudeus to join her.

The pose is the main attraction. Eris lies on her side with one leg stretched out and the other bent forward, creating a slightly awkward invitation combined with the cat paw gesture. It does not look like a generic gravure pose copied onto the character. She appears to be trying very hard to look calm and seductive but a history of violence makes it hard to understand what that entails.

The expression sells the figure. Eris is somewhere between embarrassment and determination. It is a good match for a character who would rather fight a monster than openly explain her feelings.

The cat ear hood adds a lot of character charm. A random kemomimi redesign would always benefit from the additional moe factor but coming directly from one of the series’ most memorable scenes is great. The tiny ears and hood frame her face nicely while keeping the upper half of the figure and nightgown visually interesting.

The frilled edges, gathered fabric and small red belt have good detail in the sculpt and stop the outfit from looking plain. Paint shading appears fairly restrained, so most of the texture comes from the sculpt rather than dramatic gradients but this is appropriate given the price.

The smaller format also gives her some useful display options. At only around 12cm long, Eris can sit in front of taller Mushoku Tensei scales without blocking them. She could also pair nicely with the Melty Princess Roxy figures or the earlier palm size Eris, although putting her beside Kotobukiya’s Sylphiette and Lucy may create a very strange Greyrat family portrait.

The trade off with the Melty Princess line is size and flair. This Eris figure is a non-scale small enough to rest in your palm. There is no interesting base or additional display pieces. The series was created to compress a character’s most heart racing moments into a cost effective palm-sized figure and this release shows the strength perfectly.

Overall, this is a cute and surprisingly faithful Eris figure. The sculpt captures her personality, the nightgown is nicely detailed for the size and the low pose makes her easy to add to an existing display. Sylphiette’s latest figure shows the peaceful home Rudeus eventually builds. Eris’s shows one of the nights that made reaching it considerably more complicated.
