Rhythm games usually focus on hitting notes. Muse Dash asks you to hit notes while a cute anime girl sprints across the screen beating enemies into submission. Naturally, this has proven to be a winning formula.

Developed by PeroPeroGames, Muse Dash combines rhythm gameplay with a simple two-button action system. Enemies and obstacles approach from the ground and air, with every attack timed to the music. The Steam version launched in 2019 and currently has access to hundreds of songs through Muse Plus, ranging from electronic music and J-pop to some truly brutal rhythm-game tracks.

It also helps that Muse Dash has always known exactly what kind of audience it is catering to. Bright anime artwork, catchy music and plenty of cute character costumes are a huge part of the appeal. Instead of simply selecting a character, players unlock different versions of the Muses with unique outfits and abilities. Rin is the first Muse players meet and her original Bassist Rin form fits her perfectly. She loves rock music, has a tomboyish streak and gives off some classic tsundere energy.

Her Racer outfit takes that attitude and turns the dial up considerably. Racer Rin was introduced as part of the game's 2024 anniversary update alongside new songs and illustrations. And now APEX has turned that design into a figure.

The LIMEPIE Series Rin Racer Ver. is a 1/8 scale figure standing around 24cm tall, with the character design credited to Rourow.

APEX's LIMEPIE line sits in that increasingly competitive space between prize figures and traditional scales. For the price, a somewhat obscure character now seems shelf worthy. The pose is simple but works really well. Rin stands with a relaxed look. It gives her a confident, slightly smug posture that suits both the Racer design and Rin herself. There is no motorcycle or giant racing-themed base needed to explain the concept. She already looks like she owns the track.

The outfit does most of the work on this one. The glossy black bodysuit wraps tightly around her legs and torso, with a rather strategically placed opening across the chest. A cropped hot-pink racing jacket sits over the top, giving the design some extra volume around the shoulders without hiding the silhouette underneath. Checkerboard details, gloves and tall boots push the racing theme further while avoiding the generic race queen look.

The paint finish is probably what makes the costume work best. A lot of the bodysuit uses a glossy finish that gives it a latex-like appearance, while the jacket and smaller pieces have enough variation to stop the entire outfit looking like one piece of shiny plastic. The bright pink against the black is very Muse Dash, and the little green accents pull in some of the neon colors from the original Racer artwork. The visual was interesting enough that I researched it and decided she was worthy of a blog highlight.

Her animal ears are another nice touch. The black ears give the upper half of the figure some visual balance. The long tail behind her does the same job from the back and helps make an otherwise straightforward standing pose more interesting. As a LIMEPIE figure, the fur/hair detail is nowhere near scale level, but is more than acceptable.

Rin has that slightly smug expression that looks like she already knows she is faster than you. The sharp eyes and small smile give her plenty of personality without going overboard.

The base is simple but elaborate enough to add a little something extra. For a character like Rin who may be relatively unknown to most, having a simple name or series title is appreciated so you have less questions to answer.

Overall, Racer Rin looks like a really fun bishoujo figure for the price. The neon color scheme pops, the glossy bodysuit gives the outfit plenty of visual appeal and the pose captures Rin's confident personality without needing an oversized base.
