despite the exceptional technical sector, the wonderful graphics, the music that is always spot on (but sometimes too repetitive), the story... there is always something that doesn't add up to me. I speak as an admirer of the series, as a person who had the opportunity to play FFVII when I was a teenager. OK, it doesn't compare to the old episodes, but I found the new gameplay mechanics fun and interesting.
What doesn't add up to me and leaves me too perplexed is the plot... There are holes, strange ways of narrating the facts, chapters that are too fast, others perhaps strange... Other events are only mentioned among the various endless uploads. The open word is huge, but it is too limited to the main realm, where in reality you are not free to really move to every single corner of the map. The rest of the world map is then barely mentioned and can be explored by train during the last chapters and there is no way to return there. I won't go into further detail to avoid spoilers, but the fact remains that despite a huge universe having been built for this game, too many things left me perplexed and even with a bad taste in my mouth. Let's say that I didn't like the "direction" very much, it could have been improved.
However, in my opinion, it remains an enjoyable, pleasant game, full of secrets and long-lasting enough for those who, like me, love to search, explore and enhance characters. A lot of work has been done, a lot. It is certainly not easy to put everything together and obtain an excellent quality product that satisfies all palates. For this reason, in the end, mine is still a positive opinion, even if I would have preferred a lot fewer stupid and ridiculous secondary missions in favor of a denser, much longer plot and perhaps studied in a better way to be able to focus better on the real emotional aspects of the personages.
