🍂 🍂 🍂
Autumn is here! The once green momiji are now all turning red, coloring the promenades and country roads with the announcement of the approaching winter. Before it all fades to gray and is covered with white, let us enjoy the colors of the season in our favorite characters!
In anime, red-haired characters are mostly known for their passion. They are fiercely crazy and fiercely loyal. The flame burning in their spirits comes up in their hair color, signaling to all around them that there is warmth for their allies and destruction for their foes.
Asuka Langley (Evangelion)
Let’s open this list with a classic redhead and classic tsundere — Evangelion’s Asuka Langley! Who, by the way, is available for pre-order and scheduled to release in January 2022. Definitely check her out!
When you are truly good at something, there is no need to be modest about it. She’s pretty, skilled, strong, and she knows it, your personal space be damned. (っ⇀`皿′↼)っ( ゜─゜)
Tanjiro and Nezuko Kamado (Demon Slayer)
Another red-haired pre-order on this list is this set with Demon Slayer’s Tanjiro and Nezuko Kamado! Do check them out soon, because they are a Shop Exclusive!
OK, maybe the crimson of their hair is not as apparent as Asuka’s, but you can’t deny the tinge of burgundy that permeates Tanjiro’s locks. Their heritage as Children of Fire shows even in Nezuko’s hair, even if it only showed up after she became a demon! These siblings are birds of a feather, radiating warmth that attracts people to them, and shining brightly to scare the demons away. (☼.☼)
Sakuragi Hanamichi (Slam Dunk)
Sakuragi’s short temper had us sometimes wondering whether we were watching Slam Dunk or a game of Street Fighter. His loud, twangy vocalizations are a remnant of his delinquent days, befitting of a personality that doesn’t fit in with Japan’s societal standards. But it made basketball all the more exciting to watch! (ლ `Д ́ )ლ
Kallen Kozuki (Code Geass)
Kallen, the adopted heir of the Stadtfeld family, has to balance two worlds within her heart. At school, she has to fulfill her role in the Britannian family being a model student, calm and tempered to the point of becoming a wallflower. But outside of school she can let her true self come out: the passionate pride for her origins burns freely, fueling the deadly weapons of her Knightmare Frame. There is more to life than just school; the world out there is what really matters, so be yourself! Join the revolution! (ノ `Д´)ノ
Eijiro Kirishima (My Hero Academia)
One word describes Kirishima: M A N L Y!
Masculinity doesn’t have to come laced with toxicity. It’s less about being a walking firecracker like Bakugo, snapping at anything and everything, and more like being a constant, fierce flame! This budding hero is a great example of modern manners: he is straightforward but no less kind-hearted, living life true to himself but still keeping a chivalrous attitude towards others. Don’t let that fangy grin scare you; there is not a shred of ill will in his heart! ᕦ(ಠ∀ಠ)ᕥ
Erza Scarlet (Fairy Tail)
Suddenly, a smile, even an odd one like Kirishima's, seems very inviting. Fairy Tail’s Erza has a permanent death stare in battle that can make any drill sergeant look like a puppy. Quick to anger, even quicker to draw her sword, the only answer that will get you out of trouble with her is “YES, SIR!”(⌒▽⌒ゞ
Lina Inverse (Slayers)
With a little less wit than Erza but no less firepower, we have Slayers’ Lina Inverse. I can’t really blame her; I too love gold and treasure. The tempting sparkle of gold coins clinking in money pouches and chests just on the other side of danger would make me a little reckless as well! Greed is one hell of a valid reason to fight, and the genius sorceress Lina is already out there, leading the charge...and looking fine while doing it. (メ`ロ´)/
Kurama (Yu Yu Hakusho)
Red hair often represents a passionate personality, but with Kurama, the one about to go crazy is...you. The bloodthirsty-demon-turned-gentleman from Yu Yu Hakusho is as handsome as he is deadly! His weapon of choice suits this duality of his character: the softness of a rose and the sharpness of her thorns give the otherwise mostly shounen series a tinge of shoujo. And he is a two-for-one deal, since his demonic side is just as attractive! (つ♡◡♡)つ
Himura Kenshin (Rurouni Kenshin)
Before John Wick was even a thought, there was Kenshin Himura, a Meiji Era assassin! The years of war and merciless killing made the otherwise indomitable swordsman into a quintessential Japanese gentleman. But the peaceful years on the road haven’t dimmed the flame within him; it is still a part of him, he only chooses not to give into it. ( ̄^ ̄メ)
Love Live Cast
Not sure what shade of red is your favorite? Love Live offers a solution by giving us all the possibilities of red: a tsundere in Maki Nishikino, the energetic Chika Takami, the born leader Honoka Kosaka, a sweetly shy Kanon Shibuya and an even sweeter and shyer Ruby Kurosawa. So if you can’t choose only one, love them all!
