Rise, o faithful! The High Priestess of the Great Old Ones awakes from her abyssal slumber to grace us with her presence!
Incredibly enough, this figure rendition of a literary character isn’t the work of Myethos. It’s instead done by Fengrong, bringing to life the concept by illustrator STARKageboushi.
This is only one of the drawings the artist has published, and it’s difficult to choose between them. So I’ll link all of the ones I found, because they’re *so* worth checking out! He also has this one of the sleeping Cthulhu, which I love because of how massive she is against the tiny ships! She has cute versions here, in a dream of world domination and a casual, laid-back one, because despite her size and power, she’s still a relatable Great Old One!
After haunting the dreams of humanity, the Sleeper of R'lyeh concluded that the most effective way to world domination is to put on the semblance of the World’s #1 Princess and charm her way to the top!
Unlike what a certain prince was once told, you can be both feared AND loved. There are no limits when you are a cosmic entity.
Cthulhu-chan’s glow up is absolutely inspiring! She went from eldritch horror, described by Lovecraft as a monster, vaguely human, octopus-faced and with a BLOATED corpulence (excuse me!? ( ੈჰ ੈ)) to this slender, absolutely adorable young idol without a single trace of “fearsome and unnatural malignancy”. Even the cephalopoid eyes look cute on her, somehow.
Besides, everyone has a rough patch when we’re growing up. She just needed to grow into the feelers…and grow she did! Cthulhu-chan has legs for days and thicc tentacles.
By now you all know we’re suckers for unexpected texture: the figure has a wet shine on the smooth side of the tentacles. Are you into slimy? Better load up on it because the aeonial trend is about to come back.
The feelers are, by the way, anatomically correct. Thicc and dainty, how utterly endearing! *faints* (*Л*)
An essential point to mention in Cthulhu-chan’s makeover is her impeccable fashion. She went from wrinkly squid to total diva in a century, just like that! Heels, frilly thigh-highs and frilly dress with green tartan accents should be trademarked as a signature look, for the elite of the cosmic elite.
But here is what makes her stand out from the seemingly infinite crowd of idols: she accessorizes like nobody else can. See that little ship, bobbing in the green viscous mass? Yep, that’s real, live, screaming-to-death and ***ting-their-pants sailors. Seamen go well with tentacles. ╮ (. ❛ ᴗ ❛. ) ╭
Their screams harmonize with her maddening siren voice, driving humanity into a frenzy! Her stage is a light-up base of “sky-flung monoliths, all dripping with green ooze and sinister with latent horror.” (Lovecraft)
Her classic version (also on pre-order now) does not have the base, if you can provide a proper altar. I doubt it, though. (๑・ω-) Don’t incur on the wrath of the High Priestess and get the correct one, will you?
We hope you enjoyed this one!
Until next time! ( ;,;)/
