The franchise is celebrating its 10th anniversary with this incredible release! The stoic angel of our psyche rises about 46 cm tall, perched on the stock of her Rock Cannon like an ominous ballerina on needle-sharp pointe shoes. The little bird rises from the valley of death, having become death herself. All for the sake of sparing young girls from the pain and the ugly of this world!
The concept was drawn by none other than her creator, Japanese illustrator huke. Then, Good Smile Company needed only to open a portal to the astral planes of emotions to bring the relentless fighter to this world!
Every detail was faithfully recreated and improved on under the watchful eye of her maker, with special attention given to her expression. The blue flame that flares from her right eye is not present here. Instead, you can feel smoldering intensity rising from the depths of her eyes. (►_◄)
However, to keep with her signature look, a feather as dark as midnight flutters from her pigtail.
Few can look this good with a resting b*tch face! One glance can pierce like a thousand bullets. I dare say I’m even getting Black Gold Saw vibes!
She looks down at the desolate world of emotions that wore away the magnificent colors she had gathered. Born to protect her hopeful and bright-eyed counterpart Kuroi Mato from the heartbreak of middle school drama, Black Rock Shooter is all black and blue and battle-worn. Only the keen azure of her eyes remains, and it seeps through with an eerie glow.
In fact, the glow is what makes this figure unique: the base lights up! It comes with a USB cable which blends in perfectly with the base, enhancing the technological wasteland aesthetic.
All the colorful feathers of this little bird have long melted away, and only the sharp bones remain. Her wings bear a sinister similarity with tentacles with the way each phalanx points in a different direction. Their blue tips also glow, thanks to carefully placed lights in the base of the figure. It’s odd how by adding light something can become even darker! (｡･ρ･)
Everything about Black Rock Shooter is jagged and broken, shaped by the neverending turmoil of coming of age. She is the counterpart to the sweet and optimistic magical girls: hard, violent, and monochromatic. No ugliness is spared: living is painful, growing up is even more so.
