The beating heart of Jujutsu Kaisen, Yuji Itadori is an extremely gifted athlete at his high school, but he'd rather spend his time chasing ghosts with his senpai in the Occult Research Club. One day, the club goes to investigate a supposed haunting in the rugby field that has left many students sick. But Yuji and his friends don't realize the actual danger they are in when they discover a cursed object.

Fushiguro Megumi, a jujutsu sorcerer (in training), stumbles upon the group and tries to get the cursed object back but he's too late. In a last-ditch effort in order to save his friends, Yuji makes a life-altering decision: he eats the cursed object, which is a finger of Ryomen Sukuna, the King of Curses.

This makes Yuji a vessel for Sukuna, and he is now possessed by the powerful cursed spirit. This would usually be a death sentence carried out by the Jujutsu sorcerers, but Gojo Satoru, the strongest jujutsu sorcerer in the world, agrees to spare Yuji's life temporarily. He believes that Yuji can be used to put an end to Sukuna.

Thus begins the story of Jujutsu Kaisen, when Yuji is taken to Tokyo Jujutsu High, where he begins training to become a jujutsu sorcerer. He quickly learns how to use his jujutsu power to fight cursed spirits, but he knows that one day, Sukuna will take control of his body. In the meantime, Yuji is determined to use his jujutsu power to protect the innocent and make the world a better place. He is a kind and compassionate person, and he is always willing to sacrifice himself for others.
