Kagamine Rin is usually not alone; instead, she's usually alongside Kagamine Len, who shares a strong resemblance to her. Given the shared last name and visual resemblance, you'd probably think the two are twins; however, Crypton Future Media has clarified they are neither twins nor lovers. Rather, they are one soul between two bodies.

I know it sounds like a weird movie plot, but the idea behind the birth of the Kagamine Vocaloids is interesting!

Kagamine Rin and Len were Crypton's second Vocaloid release. To spice things up after the insane success of Hatsune Miku, they opted to aim for a release that'd offer both male and female voices. They first decided to create the female voicebank, or Kagamine Rin, then replicate those vocals into a male version, aka Kagamine Len.

Of the two, Kagamine Rin is more popular than Len. However, the sad reality is that neither of the two compare in popularity to Hatsune Miku, although that's always been an insurmountable hill.

While Hatsune Miku always secures the top spot for Crypton's most popular Vocaloids in Japan, Kagamine Rin usually comes in 2nd place, and Len usually in 4th. But regardless of their popularity rankings, fans of the blonde-haired duo will be able to find both Rin and Len available in figure form!
