So you've got your Pokemon starter deck, and you've already been besting other players, but now you want to take your game to the next level? Or maybe you're a longtime collector of the Pokemon trading card game, looking to increase your vast collection? It's time to get some booster boxes!

What's the Difference Between a Booster Box and a Booster Pack?

Booster Packs

A Pokemon trading card game booster pack contains ten random trading cards ranging in rarity from common to super rare. Each booster pack usually contains six common cards, three uncommon cards, and one rare (or better!) card.

New booster pack sets are released four times a year. Each set has a different name, like Sun and Moon: Sky Legend, Sword and Shield: Eevee Heroes, or Sword and Shield: Fusion Arts. Each of these sets normally contains a certain number of new cards, about 200, although it depends on the release.

Booster Boxes

A booster box contains 36 booster packs with cards from a single set. However, it's much better to buy a booster box than 36 individual packs, as due to the way the cards are distributed during production, you are much more likely to get a larger variety of cards in a booster box.

Booster boxes usually contain about 36 rare cards, 108 uncommon cards, and 216 common cards. If you open 36 random single packs, you'll likely have many repeat cards in each category. But, when you open all the packs from a single booster box, it's normal to get 20 different rare cards, 1-2 of every type of uncommon card and 2-3 of every common card in the set.

With a greater variety of cards, the chance you'll find the exact cards you're hoping for is much higher! Plus, a greater Pokemon trading card selection will help dedicated players craft a perfect deck better.
