Lately it feels like every week there is something unexpected happening in the figure space. Yet another new manufacturer has made their debut and PowerAlpaca is off to a strong start. The Flower Shadow Contract Series: Mistbloom Traces introduces a character who feels like a shrine maiden exorcist straight out of a gacha game. Designed by illustrator Zombie_KE, Chikashi Kosaka is an interesting blend of design elements.
Zombie_KE is a rising illustrator known for ethereal character designs that fuse fragility with menace. Their style includes a watercolor-like visual, avoiding strong line work and allowing colors to bleed into each other naturally. They seem to enjoy a range of mobile games with plenty of ZZZ, Nikke and Blue Archive fan art posted on their social media accounts. This could also be an influence for their original character designs as they tend to blend fantasy and bishoujo aesthetics which combined with their unique style creates a killer visual.
Since PowerAlpaca labeled Chikashi as part of the Flower Shadow Contract Series, they could be planning to release other OC designs from Zombie_KE.
At first glance, Chikashi looks like an unassuming shrine maiden. But instead of leaning into purity or stoicism, Chikashi’s design goes for a more bishoujo look. Her pose is delicate, almost hesitant, and her eyes suggest uncertainty.
Her pointed ears, long hair and face resemble a bit of Miyabi from ZZZ and are definitely a hit part of the design.
The traditional shrine maiden outfit has been altered to show a lot more skin. It looks like Chikashi is a cast-off as some promo photos show her without a skirt.
The color palette is well done with muted reds, pale blues, and gold accents that give her a heavenly elegance.
The sculpt is also looking good with nice paintwork. There is good detail in the ruffles of her clothing, some muscle definition and even her hair and tail look decent.
The base gets a cherry blossom design rounding out the figure nicely. One thing to note is that in promo photos there is a defect on Chikashi’s left ankle. I am assuming this will be fixed upon release but PowerAlpaca is a new company so quality level is unknown.
Chikashi is currently available for pre-order, with an expected release in April 2026. If you’re into shrine girls who look like they need saving, it doesn't get better than this.
Thanks for reading.
Hope you enjoyed!
