If you have been a reader of these blogs for a long time, my love of kemomimi is probably already apparent. As such, I am a pretty big fan of Shimahara’s doujinshi, My Cat Is A Kawaii Girl.

As an illustrator living with a cat, Shimahara took the small, everyday moments and reimagined them into a comic. His original cat girl character Kinako is modeled after his real life cat and the heartwarming, and sometimes not so heartwarming moments they share.

The story blends comedy with slice-of-life charm and has grown a ton of support. Kinako’s hobbies consist of knocking things off tables, curling up in sunspots and demanding attention in the most unpredictable ways. Her interactions with her bewildered owner showcase the undeniable bond between humans and their pets.

Kinako has several figures already available, but given her popularity there is more to come! In fact, Thousand’s first Golden Head figure was of Kinako, and now they are shooting to repeat their success with this Play With version.

One of Kinako's many charms is her baggy, oversized outfits that enhance the chibi size. Her osakana shirt is swapped for a sanma sweatshirt.

Kinako has an absolutely adorable, happy expression that brightens up your day. Her fang and big, expressive eyes are good, moe additions.

The sculpt of her hair and fluffy ears is very well done and makes you want to mofumofu.

The pose is also pretty nice. Hand outstretched, Kinako grabs your attention and adds a bit of size to the figure. She is a 1/6 scale, but given her small stature she is still going to be a bit shorter than most standard 1/7 scales, so the extra height is appreciated.

For fans of feet, Kinako always delivers. Shimahara also does an excellent job recreating cat mannerisms. The way she walks with one foot in front of the other mimics actual cats very well.

Finally, the base has an assortment of cat toys living up to the figures name. It is the perfect finishing touch for a great Kinako figure.
