Welcome to the Solaris Blog! ヾ( ʚ̴̶̷ .̫ ʚ̴̶̷ )ノ”
Hatsune Miku, a virtual idol who needs no introduction. She has performed in concerts all over the globe, collaborated with famous brands like Louis Vuitton and has been part of everything imaginable from selling pizzas to space programs. Everyone knows her, everyone loves her and everyone wants her. Hatsune Miku is the ultimate idol and subculture icon. But did you know that she is also a racing icon?
The Hatsune Miku GT Project is a motorsports project that aims to bridge the gap between a racing team and fans. Since 2008 Good Smile Racing has been promoting the race team who participates in the SUPER GT circuit under the name GOODSMILE RACING & TeamUKYO (bicycle racing). The team's mascot is, of course, Racing Miku who receives a new design from a new illustrator every year. Racing Miku is featured front and center on all of the team's gear, including the cars, pit walls and even the cheer squad do a little cosplay.

I think it’s safe to say that Miku is more well known than the motorsports team, but she does a great job of sparking interest. The racing team itself is actually really good, with a track record of winning many races and was the series champion in 2011, 2014 and 2017. They are now considered one of the top teams representing SUPER GT in both popularity and ability.
The biggest draw is the fan interaction and ongoing communication regarding the status of the team. Illustrations are released to promote the races and build hype. After races the team will appear live on YouTube and social media to report on the race. They also participate in victory celebrations with fans.

Racing Miku 2023 Version

With the 2023 circuit wrapped up and the new 2024 design being unveiled, figures are being finalized and pre-orders are starting to open. The 2023 design was among the best and there is something that really stands out about it…
Look at those thighs! If you think they look familiar or Thyza comes to mind, there is a very good reason for this. Toridamono was in charge of the 2023 design. He was the character designer for the Atelier Ryza series and his cute and colorful style brings out a touch of realism and fantasy. Toridamono’s style creates a refreshing look for Miku and works incredibly well. This very well may be the most adorable Miku to date.

First off her expression is perfect and the skin fang is the epitome of cute. Characters with a lot of hair can sometimes make for messy visuals but Toridamono did an excellent job of keeping Miku, Miku and making that impressive set of twintails work well. The addition of the braid in her hair was also a nice choice and adds to the overall charm.
The outfit design does have a bit of fantasy aesthetic and is reminiscent of Ryza with the shorts and boots combo. It is a relatively simple design that has an incredible amount of detail. The straps wrapping around her body, the many buttons and clasps and the belt mesh together to create a visually appealing and interesting design. The addition of the cape also adds some feeling of movement, depth and dynamism.Toridamono also added two team support birds to help cheer on the team with Miku! Equipped with flags and similar outfits and color schemes they blend in seamlessly. From the back, Miku’s hat has a little easter egg.For the pose, Miku looks like she is jumping up and down cheering for the team. The overall sculpt does a fantastic job of keeping Miku front and center. The hair flowing around her looks great and doesn't get in the way of the main visual.

And of course, with some nice thicc thighs comes with a decent booty. ( ✧≖ ͜ʖ≖)
Since 2023 marked 15 years of Racing Miku, Good Smile put together a special 15th anniversary event. They showcased the different designs over the years, the outfits that the cheerleaders would wear and even had some of the car hoods on display. If you have the chance to visit Akihabara in Tokyo, Good Smile regularly has small exhibits and pop up shops in the Akiba Co Gallery. It is towards the end of the main shopping area in Akiba but it is worth taking the walk. Events aren't always scheduled but aside from Good Smile, it is a main event space in Akiba and they are usually free to enter!Thank you for reading!
We hope you enjoyed it!
