Tea Time Cats Goes Orange

Pre-Order Orange Cat Now!

Welcome to the Solaris Blog! ヾ( ʚ̴̶̷ .̫ ʚ̴̶̷ )ノ”

If you have been reading the Solaris Blog for a while, Tea Time Cats may sound familiar. The adorable catgirl series comes from illustrator STAR Shadow Magician (STAR影法師), who is also responsible for the wonderfully strange Mushroom Girls designs we have covered before. Tea Time Cats takes a much safer approach: turn different breeds and types of cats into tiny kemonomimi girls and surround them with tea and cozy accessories.

RIBOSE has been turning the illustrations into figures through its DLC, or Decorated Life Collection, a line built around mixing collectibles with items that can actually be used in everyday life. The first Tea Time Cat, Li Howe, came with a functional aluminum tea canister. Later, some arrived with an actual ceramic teapot or plate. It is a cute concept that makes the accessories feel like more than oversized bases taking up shelf space.

Now the family is getting an Orange Cat. Thankfully, STAR Shadow Magician’s version seems to have channeled the sweeter side of orange-cat energy. She sits adorably on the ground, completely unaware that a butterfly has landed on her ear as she invites you to enjoy tea with her. There may only be one orange brain cell available, and apparently the butterfly has temporarily stolen it.

The design is extremely cute. Orange Cat has warm blonde-orange hair, matching cat ears and a fluffy tail, paired with a soft pink frilled dress. The pastel colors are much brighter than some earlier Tea Time Cats designs and give her a warm spring tea-party look.

Her expression is probably my favorite part. The large green eyes and slightly open mouth give her that curious, mildly confused look actual cats seem to specialize in. Combined with the butterfly perched right beside her ear, she looks completely distracted from whatever she was supposed to be doing. It is simple character storytelling, but that is exactly what these little figures need.

The sitting pose also works really well with the deformed proportions. Her legs tuck underneath her while the dress spreads around her body, giving the figure a surprisingly full silhouette despite being fairly small.

The frills around the dress, ribbons and puffed sleeves give the clothing more depth, while the hair breaks into several soft sections rather than becoming one solid chunk. Her ears have proper inner-ear detailing and the tail adds some much-needed fluff behind the otherwise compact pose.

The color palette is also really pleasant. Pink, white and blonde dominate the figure, while those bright green eyes give the face a strong focal point. Nothing is especially bold, but that works for a figure built around a relaxing afternoon tea aesthetic.

And of course, this would not be Tea Time Cats without the tea. Orange Cat comes with a porcelain cup and saucer, continuing the DLC line’s tradition of pairing the figure with something more substantial than a plastic accessory.

Overall, this may be one of the cutest Tea Time Cats yet. The butterfly gives the pose some personality, the warm pastel colors suit an orange cat perfectly and the real porcelain cup keeps the DLC gimmick alive. Most importantly, STAR Shadow Magician continues to demonstrate one universal truth: everything is better with kemomimi. Even afternoon tea.

Orange Cat is currently available for pre-order with an expected July 2027 release!
