Today we’re looking at some sick scales of Jujutsu Kaisen’s Sukuna! ᕙ (`▽ ´) ᕗ
But before, as always, a quick intro, just in case you haven’t heard of Jujutsu Kaisen before (in which case…say whaaaaaaat? (⊙０⊙) )
Jujutsu Kaisen, or JJK for short, is a shounen anime produced by studio MAPPA, the same studio responsible for the Attack on Titan masterpiece! It has aired 24 episodes plus a prequel movie so far, and the studio has *teased* a second season sometime in 2023. The series features a host of uniquely subversive characters battling curses and other evils brought upon this world by humanity’s fears and darkest desires. (ᇴ‿ฺᇴ) The animation is, obviously, top-notch, with battle sequences like this iconic fight between Nobara + Yuji against the cursed spirit brothers. ( ﾟ∀ﾟ)ｱ
The series is also full of comedic, light-hearted moments because the main characters are teenagers after all. ʅ(́ ◡◝ )ʃ Each episode is a fun watch, with action, comedy, and a dash of bitter darkness.
The main character is Itadori Yuji, who ends up swallowing a cursed object that leads to a powerful demon possessing his body. ψ(｀∇´)ψ
This powerful demon is none other than the King of Curses, Ryomen Sukuna! Or just Sukuna. It’s hard to believe that this vile, arrogant, and sadistic creature was once human since not a single shred of decency is left in him. ( ¬ _¬) His ego is so enormous that he isn’t content with just playing the “inner demon” role. No, he is exxxtra, and shows all the other anime villains how a truly foul character behaves in any given situation. ↜(╰ •ω•)╯
Unfortunately for him, his current vessel is one tough nut to crack. And because Sukuna isn’t at his full power yet, he can’t take full control of Yuji’s body either. But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t try; if Yuji’s guard is down, Sukuna is still able to pop in to taunt him. (-_-* )
On the rare but heart-stopping (teehee (*◕‿◕*) ) occasion when Sukuna is given control of Yuji’s body, the first thing he does is…take off his shirt. Well, *tear* it off. ヽ(*Д*)ﾉ Shirts are Sukuna’s mortal enemies.
Which is probably why so many of his figures are shirtless. Take a look at these two prize figures by Bandai Spirits, one from the Maximatic series and the other as a Last One Ichiban Kuji prize:

Sukuna only has two ways of being portrayed: in chill kimono or skinny guy abs in full glory. Since Shibuya Scramble is all about the action, of course they chose to portray him in the process of murdering yet another of Yuji’s shirts. (´∀｀；)

If this were one of the Jujutsu Kaisen x Dolce & Gabbana pieces I’d be L I V I D. (ლ `Д ́ )ლ That’s probably why the fashion house didn’t make a Sukuna-themed line…there’s just no point.
Yuji’s wardrobe isn’t the only thing that’s dead. The figure comes with this sick base showing the remains of a freshly-killed cursed spirit. ༼xل͜x༽ Yuji, known as the Tiger of West Junior High because of his unnatural strength and agility, was already making the creature’s life difficult. But the poor thing didn’t stand a chance once he swallowed the finger and Sukuna possessed his body!
Sukuna gazes at the moon for the first time in a 1,000 years, already relishing in the thought of the torture he will inflict on the women and children of this age.（■ Д ■*）
I love how the torn fabric flies off his body! From certain angles, it really feels as if they’re completely detached from him.
Another awesome point of this Shibuya Scramble figure is his expression. That is the most evil, maniacal grin I’ve seen of the Sukuna figures so far. It really captures the ugliness of true villainy.（ ʘ皿ʘ）
Originally, the manga art is pretty twisted in these dark portrayals of its antagonists. ｡ﾟ(ﾟ∩´﹏`∩ﾟ)ﾟ｡
Then studio MAPPA turns it up to 10 in the anime:
And now Shibuya Scramble brings it to the 3D world in this chilling but undeniably cool figure.

Same pose, but varying levels of detail (...and price (⌒_⌒;) ). Bandai Spirits’ Sukuna seems positively amused, as if a mere mortal was finally able to entertain him without being tortured. Meanwhile, FuRyu’s Sukuna seems flattered, as if he just remembered that yes, he is the King of Curses; placid for now, but not for long.
Then Prime 1 Studio brings out the big guns with their 1/6 scale figures. ლ(▀̿̿Ĺ̯̿̿▀̿ლ) They’re the sorcerers of this world, fleshing out Sukuna’s realm into a highly-detailed masterpiece! It comes in two versions: the standard one, with his best RBF, and the deluxe one, with an additional arm pose and expression that’s clearly annoyed with a certain brat who is anything but a quiet vessel.
Speaking of the brat, of course Prime 1 Studio is going to release a figure of him as well. In fact, it can be purchased with Sukuna as a set. The bases of these figures connect, so they can be displayed together. Like the demon within, a standard and a deluxe version are going to be released: the standard one having Yuji’s serious stare, and the deluxe one having a cheeky grin plus cursed energy effects.
