Welcome to the Solaris Blog! ヾ(῀ʚ̴̶̷́ .̫ ʚ̴̶̷̥̀ ῀)ノ”
Today’s Early Bird special comes from Kotobukiya’s Pokemon ARTFX J series - it’s Professor Oak and Bulbasaur!
"Hello there! Welcome to the world of Pokemon! My name is Oak! People call me the Pokemon Prof!
This world is inhabited by creatures called Pokemon! For some people, Pokemon are pets. Other use them for fights. Myself… I study Pokemon as a profession.
First, what is your name?”
Professor Oak, known as Dr. Yukinari Okido in Japan, joins Kotobukiya’s Pokemon lineup as the first non-trainer to be featured! (ノ゚ο゚)ノ
Professor Oak is posed in a friendly greeting, his arm up in a wave. It feels so nostalgic to be greeted by him! (つ﹏<。)
He’s dressed in his original outfit, composed of a lilac polo shirt, brown trousers, a white lab coat, and some purple slippers!
His purple slippers look so soft and pillowy - they also match his base perfectly! ू(ʚ̴̶̷́ .̠ ʚ̴̶̷̥̀ ू)
You can see the detail that went into recreating Oak’s look as well - check out the subtle lines of his hair from the back!
And of course, Oak is never complete without a book in hand. Kotobukiya has really done a great job with creating one for Professor Oak!
From below, you can check out the details of Oak’s book. While the cover is quite simple in design, the real standout is the curvature of Oak’s fingers as he grips the books. It looks so realistic! (・0・。)
You can also see the contents of the book - while nothing is distinguishable, the variety of bright colors really makes it pop. Additionally, the different bookmarks sticking out from the top of the pages adds another layer of dimension. ꒰・‿・๑꒱
"Now, which Pokemon do you want?"
Accompanying Professor Oak is grass-type starter Bulbasaur, or Fushigidane as he’s known in Japan!
Bulbasaur has a slightly confused look on his face as he looks over at Professor Oak. He looks absolutely adorable as not one detail was missed in recreating him! (੭ु ›ω‹ )੭ु⁾⁾♡
Check out the vines protruding from Bulbasaur’s bulb - he’s ready for his attack Vine Whip! ε=ε=(っ* ´□` )っ
The shading of the vines is especially breathtaking. Notice how the color darkens as it gets closer to his bulb - it looks incredible!
Of course, Bulbasaur is not fixed to the base, meaning you can move him around or give Professor Oak additional Pokemon companions! (Oak only comes with Bulbasaur, though)
You can also pose Professor Oak with Ash (also known as Red or Satoshi) to really recreate the original series! ♡( •ॢ◡-ॢ)✧˖° ♡
Lastly, with the original Japanese voice actor for Professor Oak, Ishizuka Unsho, sadly passing in 2018, this figure release by Kotobukiya seems like a heart-warming tribute to the beloved actor. ˚‧º·(˚ ˃̣̣̥᷄⌓˂̣̣̥᷅ )‧º·˚

“Perhaps one of the most memorable characters of the Pokemon world, Professor Oak has finally debuted in Kotobukiya’s ARTFX J lineup! Professor Oak’s gentle smile perfectly captures his kind spirit. Every detail of the knowledgeable mentor is carefully recreated: the shine of his belt buckle, the pen peeking out from his coat pocket, and of course his purple slippers! He’s also posed holding a textbook, filled with multiple sticky notes, as he gives you a friendly greeting. Standing firmly by his feet is the adorable starter Pokemon, Bulbasaur. Filled to the brim with nostalgia for seasoned Pokemon fans, this figure release is not to be missed. Order yours today!”
P.S. Professor Oak looks a little lonely, even with Bulbasaur by his feet. Make sure to give him some company!
