Kotobukiya launched OSHI WORKS as a new figure series built around one idea: making it easy for fans to bring home their favorite characters without the premium‑scale price tag. According to Kotobukiya, the line focuses on being affordable, collectible and fun, offering compact figures that still carry the studio’s trademark polish. The name comes from oshi (推し), the Japanese word used to describe your favorite person/character, and the philosophy is simple: if you love a character, you should be able to display them proudly, even if you’re just starting your collection.

Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, is one of the most perfect series to join this new line. The story follows the elven mage Frieren long after the world's demon king had been defeated. While her human companions age and pass on, Frieren continues her journey, learning what their friendship truly meant.

Both the first and currently airing second season are the highest rated anime of all time on MAL with good reason. The series is celebrated for it's emotional subtlety, gentle pacing and themes of memory, grief, and rediscovery. Frieren herself is a character of contradictions: ancient yet naïve, powerful yet introspective, aloof yet deeply affected by the people she meets. A series universally loved deserves to have decent figures that can be universally acquired.

Even with the lower price tag, Kotobukiya didn’t cut corners on sculpt clarity or pose design. Frieren is depicted in a calm, pre‑battle stance, staff in hand, capturing the quiet determination that defines her throughout the series.

Similarly, Stark and Fern have also taken a battle-ready position and the three together make a cohesive visual.

All of these figures are sculpted with crisp detail. Normally, non-scale figures reduce cost by shrinking the size and removing subtle details. Kotobukiya managed to keep these a respectable size and made sure to do them justice.

While Frieren’s coat might be simple, they added nice texture to her leather boots and scarf.

Stark’s clothing has wrinkles throughout, matching his body's movement.

Fern’s skirt and hair have nice movement to them giving the figure a more dynamic feel.

The paintwork is also well done. Kotobukiya uses subtle gradients to bring out the folds of their outfits and the softness of Frieren's hair.

Stark's color palette really pops with nice bright reds and darker undertones.

Fern's silhouette reads cleanly from a distance, something other non‑scale manufacturers sometimes struggle with.

The base is a square platform with the series and character name, which is kind of hard to see. One interesting note is that the figures attach magnetically to the base, giving them stability and a premium feel despite its accessible price point.

Kotobukiya definitely achieved their objective with the OSHI WORKS Frieren gang. I am not a fan of Pop Up Parade figures so I may be biased but to me, these figures are a notch above what Good Smile brings to the table. For the price, OSHI WORKS may be the best non-scale budget option for all your collecting needs.
