Pre-Order Yuta Okkotsu and Rika Orimoto Now!
Welcome to the Solaris Blog! ヾ( ʚ̴̶̷ .̫ ʚ̴̶̷ )ノ”
Have you ever loved someone so much that you felt not even death could part you?🤵👰With a love so intense and a promise so sincere that it became a literal curse? Well, be careful what you wish for, because that's essentially what happened with little Rika Orimoto and Yuta Okkotsu.
Today we’re looking at these two Pop Up Parade figures from the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie! They’re the protagonists of a tragic love story that happened just a little before the events of the Jujutsu Kaisen anime series. (っ◞‸◟c)
But if you’ve never watched Jujutsu Kaisen, or if you haven’t watched the movie yet, here’s a quick summary:
In the world where Jujutsu Kaisen takes place, the human heart can give origin to all sorts of monstrosities.
Even pure and innocent love can become a twisted abomination with a penchant for gore. (・´ェ`・) It's a place where you really have to be careful about what you wish for, though most lead their lives unaware of the monsters that lie in wait in dark corners of places full of suffering.
But that doesn’t make them immune to the effects of those evil entities, named “cursed spirits,” or “curses” for short. Even the oblivious can and do become victims of these creatures. One fateful day, an innocent wish resulted in a young man named Yuta Okkotsu being haunted for the rest of his life. And that is when his life is set on a course that will lead him to cross paths with Gojo Satoru years later.
Their stories are told in great detail and visual flair in the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie, released in 2021. It serves as a prequel to the Jujutsu Kaisen series, which has aired 24 episodes so far. This shounen series by Gege Akutami is animated by studio MAPPA, the same studio that gave us Attack on Titan and Chainsaw Man. The animation is vibrant and dynamic, with epic battle scenes and a spectacle of blood and cursed techniques. If that’s right up your alley, definitely give Jujutsu Kaisen a watch. Season 2 will premiere in July and, according to the trailer, we’re in for another stroll down memory road. ( ु⁎ᴗ_ᴗ⁎)ु.。oO
But back to the katana kid with a kickass Pokémon. Ϟ(๑⚈ WWW⚈๑)∩
Bound and burdened by the spirit of his former childhood friend, Yuta leads a lonely life, unable to connect with his peers. One day, after an incident where his curse got out of hand, he meets Gojo Satoru, who drags him to Tokyo Jujutsu High. There, he begins to train in the art of exorcising curses. In a new environment and with friends who can understand what he’s going through, Yuta can finally begin to make the memories other teens his age should be making.
As much as is possibly normal for a jujutsu sorcerer-in-training, that is. Because when the horrors of the human heart appear before you, trying to shred you to pieces like a famished titan…excitement is a constant in your life, to say the least. ( ̄︶ ̄ ;)
So, when trouble crashed in to start a fight, these curse pupils were armed and ready. Even the newbie. (∩ ͡ ° ʖ ͡ °) ⊃-(===>
He wears a custom Tokyo Jujutsu High uniform: simple but comfortable, loose fitting with lots of room to move freely.
Looking like he just got out of bed, with disheveled hair and dark circles around his eyes, Yuta may not appear capable…but don’t underestimate him! He now has something he wants to protect and will fight to the end!( ・`ー・´)▬▬ι═══════ﺤ
FuRyu actually made a sick 1/7 scale figure portraying the full depth of Yuta's rage. It’s menacing, chilling and nightmare-inducing. (ಠ 益 ಠ ) And it’s available brand new at our store, so go check that out!
See the grinning monster behind Yuta? That’s his betrothed and his curse, Rika Orimoto.
Of course, she wasn’t always like that.
Instead of menacingly sharp fangs, she used to have a gentle smile. Instead of claws that rip and tear, she had soft hands that once made a promise to Yuuta: “when we grow up, we’ll get married!” she said, wrapping her pinky around his.
But…things happened. Her love is undying and just as intense, if not even more. She protects Yuta even when he doesn’t want her to, and often goes…overboard…with her “protection.” (´∀`;)
All is fair in love and war, I’d say. ʅ( ´◔౪◔) ʃ
Rika’s likeness is reproduced in chilling detail in this Pop Up Parade figure, including her size! Standing tall at approximately 23 cm, she towers over Yuta, true to scale. (((╹д╹; )))
And that’s just her travel size! She can get much bigger if need be. But not in the PUP version, of course. Which is a shame, because can you imagine how cool it would be if Rika could burst out of the box like this?
Anyways, don’t you think they look cute together? A true power couple, united in unholy matrimony for better, for worse, and for absolutely much, much worse. (´ ⌣`ʃƪ)♥
Both Yuta and Rika are scheduled to be released at the end of July 2023. Preparation is key for jujutsu sorcerers and anime figure collectors alike, so make sure to pre-order these two soon! And to brush up on your Jujutsu Kaisen, because Season 2 is coming. (ღゝ◡╹)ノ
Also, check out our store for other Pop Up Parade figures of the Jujutsu Kaisen cast! Good Smile Company has also announced the release of another complicated pair in their 0 versions, Gojo Satoru and Suguru Geto! They’re both scheduled for the end of June 2023 and pre-orders are currently open, so don’t waste any time!
Other characters of the Jujutsu Kaisen movie and series have already been Pop Up-ified: tough senpai Maki and her packhorse Panda, gentle senpai Inumaki (who’s lacking a 0 version, GSC…fix it. (≖_≖) ), the juniors in the anime series Megumi, Nobara, and Yuji, and many more!
