So Phat Company is always hit or miss, they make some nice figures like their Roxy, and some terrible ones like their Semiramis that’s just full of paint bleeding, QC issues and cheap plastic.

This also has cheap feeling plastic, I don’t know what it is about the plastic they use but it just feels cheap, the only Phat Company figure I have that doesn’t feel cheap is their Suzu, that feels totally different. When you compare this with another Blue Archive figure, the beach Hina by GoodSmile, it’s like night & day, it just feels like quality, you’d never think this Hoshino was more expensive.

The base also looks cheap, the water effect looks really bad, compare it with the Asuka by Kotobukiya that’s a cheaper figure & the water effect looks 100x better. The sand looks fine but the water spoils it.

Her blue top also looks pretty bad, the sculpt is very simple, you really notice it with the pocket, but it does have some shading. Her skin tone is fine & there’s no QC issues. Her hair also has a bad sculpt, it’s smooth at the back, any figure over ¥28k shouldn’t have smooth hair at the back, it should have some sculpting there.

The things that look best are the blow up whale and the shotgun, both look good.

The thing about this figure is that it looks nice when you stand back a few feet away from it, like most of Phat Company figures, just don’t get up close. But if you want a beach theme Blue Archive figure buy the Hina by GoodSmile, it’s a beautiful figure.
