Asuka’s face looks strange in this figure because it’s a representation of Asuka from the end of the 4th Rebuild of Evangelion movies, it’s not from the original Evangelion, and her face looks odd at the very end of that movie. So Kotobukiya did a great job on it.
I’m a huge Kotobukiya fan, I think I have 17 of their figures, they’re always perfect with no QC issues and they offer excellent quality for a low price. And here the quality is excellent as always.
First off the water effect looks excellent, I just compared it to a newer more expensive figure from Phat Company which had a terrible water effect. But here it looks amazing, it has both the red & blue water and washes right up to her leg, it’s one of the best water effects I’ve seen on a PVC figure.
Next is her ripped suit, it looks amazing, they did such a great job on the ripped look with tiny strands stretching across her body, and the suit itself has a beautiful glossy finish giving a rubber like look. The sand also looks pretty good with her hair clips stuck in it.
I’m not the biggest fan how they have the hair going to translucent at the tips, they also did this with the white plug suit Asuka. But I don’t dislike it.
So altogether it’s a really nice figure of Asuka, any fan should definitely pick her up.
The statue is of the highest level, the decorated pedestal is the best, the face is cute, but above all the quality with which the suit was made, it is so detailed that it seems torn from the inside.
