Welcome to the Solaris Blog! ヾ( ʚ̴̶̷ .̫ ʚ̴̶̷ )ノ”

It's finally June which means only a few more weeks until the Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid movie premieres! Announced during their 2025 anime lineup live stream, Kyoto Animation revealed Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: A Lonely Dragon Wants To Be Loved, featuring a key visual with Kanna Kamui front and center. From the teaser trailer showcasing lots of Kanna, manga readers are pretty sure this movie will be the Kanna arc!

Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid started as a fantasy comedy manga series by Coolkyousinnjya, the creator of several popular works like Komori-san Can't Decline. It was later adapted into an anime by KyoAni and has become an international success. Like most entertaining stories, it begins with Kobayashi, a hardworking office worker, wandering home after a few too many adult beverages. After saving Tohru, a powerful dragon, she unexpectedly finds herself living together. Tohru, deeply devoted to Kobayashi, tries to assist with household chores, transforming herself into a maid. The story is filled with chaotic yet heartwarming moments.

More dragons are introduced to the human world over time and you just can't help but love them. Kanna, a quiet yet mischievous young dragon is definitely a fan favorite. Exiled from her world due to her pranks, she finds a new home with Kobayashi and Tohru. Despite her immense power, Kanna behaves much like a human child. She is curious, playful, eager to learn and wants to be praised. Her interactions with her classmate, Riko Saikawa is one of the highlights of the show. With the movie coming up, hopefully we get plenty more!

Ahead of the movie, pre-orders for two Kanna figures have started. First, Good Smile Company brings us a Holiday Version of Kanna.

The figure recreates a relaxed, weekend atmosphere, with Kanna having a perfect, slightly sleepy, playful expression.

Good Smile did a very nice job recreating Kanna’s pastel outfit. There is good attention to detail in the sculpt, mimicking different textures of her clothing. Kanna’s iconic comfy, layered attire is brought to life.

Saikawa would most certainly approve of her chubby thighs but the more important aspect is Kanna’s tail. A running gag in the series is that Kanna’s tail doubles as a plug to help her stay charged. Good Smile has incorporated this into the figure and is more of an easter egg but appreciated.

As a smol character, there is less figure than a typical 1/7 scale. Good Smile tried to add additional value with the various accessories. The donut in hand, sketchbook, bug collecting case and miniature Tohru plushie further enhance the scene. It does an excellent job embodying her warm but childish character.

Set for a January 2026 release, pre-orders are open.

Next we have a very similar design in Proof’s Relaxing Version of Kanna.

Lazing around the house, Kanna is looking just as cozy and comes with plenty of accessories. The sketchbook, rabbit plushie and stuffed animal ottoman help add depth to the overall visual.

Kanna’s outfit was changed for this serene, at-home setting. This time she is sporting a casual, dragon-inspired hoodie and fluffy legwarmers accentuating her soft, chubby physique that Saikawa can't help but want to squish.

Kanna's face can be difficult to get right. As a kuudere character, we don't get very expressive looks from her. I think Proof did a great job giving her an aloof expression close to what we see in the series.

Again, despite the smaller size for a 1/7 scale figure, there is sufficient added detail to warrant the price.

The relaxing version figure is also available for pre-order and you can currently snag an early bird discount if you reserve soon!
