Today’s Early Bird special is a 1/7 scale figure of Aisaka Taiga from Toradora! (How’s that for a blast from the past?)
It may seem like a random time for a Toradora! figure, but believe it or not, Chara-Ani's Wedding Dress Version of Taiga is in celebration of the 15th anniversary of the light novel’s release.
...The first episode of the anime aired in 2008 if y’all were wondering. (／。＼)
We’ll admit it’s been a while since we’ve seen Toradora!, but the “Palmtop Tiger” in a wedding dress sent us down a nostalgic rabbit hole searching for YouTube clips of the final episode (all in gloriously crunchy 360p).
That’s a pretty powerful reaction to a figure; we’d say it’s partly thanks to how well the sculpt and paint job capture Taiga’s tsundere tendencies so perfectly.
You can also swap out her nervous, yet excited face plate for a more neutral one!
Overall, it’s a stunning dress and we’re in love with how it and her hair billow dramatically to the side. (´ ▽｀).。ｏ♡ It’s almost as though she’s walking down the beach~
The curve of Taiga’s hair and slight bounce of her braid are two things that add even more depth to this figure’s sense of movement (and just look at those ruffles). ╰(✧∇✧╰)
The cut of her dress and its explosion ruffles is already stunningly dramatic; however, the touch of light blue in the shadows really brings the sculpt to life. We would’ve been happy with a standard static pose or one with a more minimal sense of movement, but Taiga’s effortlessly windswept design makes her look all the more glamorous.
The roses in her hair are another wonderful element. The single red rose — maybe it’s from Ryuuji? — adds a touch of elegance to Taiga’s adorableness. ≧(´▽｀)≦
Even her jewelry sways with the wind, and is that a wedding ring we see?! Best detail.
