Welcome to the Solaris Blog! ヾ( ʚ̴̶̷ .̫ ʚ̴̶̷ )ノ”
We don’t know how we ended up here… or where we are going. I can barely recall what we were doing before. Something about pigs, soup and pepper. But when we walked away from that scene we found a grinning cat sitting on the bough of a tree…
Myethos brings a literary classic to life with this stunning Cheshire Cat figure! The Hong Kong-based company always surprises us with their spectacular releases. Among their most popular figures is the A-Z series, a collaboration with illustrator neco and the FairyTale -Another- series, which has taken inspiration from illustrators such as Fuzichoco and ASK.
The latter is the one we should thank for this rendition of Lewis Carroll’s character! Other works by this artist that have been turned into figures are the protagonist Alice, the Queen of Hearts and another Wonderland critter, the White Rabbit! (which, by the way, we still have in stock (・ω -*) )
The figure did a great job of adapting the illustration to a 3D format. In the original, the Cheshire Cat is floating, as if falling down the rabbit hole beside Alice.
Myethos’ version, however, has her sitting on a tree branch, just like when Alice met her for the first time. Same pose, just at a different time in the story! Which adds even more to the weight of the scene; she’s the fleeting moment of lucidity before a delirious tea party, mocking you for not realizing how mad you are yourself!
Her grin is less toothy than the cartoon and Tim Burton’s versions, and closer to an actual cat’s expression: her lips are gently turning upwards as she smirks quizzically. Little Alice doesn’t know where she wants to go, but she wants to go somewhere? Risible indeed.
She arches her back, delighted with the girl who can’t understand simple logic. Her voluptuous figure is exacerbated by the motion, and you can see wonders… (=①౪①=)
Heel-less shoes and torn pantyhose give her the air of a shifty cabaret dancer. Your eyes are not tricking you; her left foot and the tip of her tail are translucent. This detail is not so obvious in the original illustration, but in the figure it can be made more prominent. Sharp, manicured nails point to the direction of the Mad Hatter’s party.
Red roses and purple ribbons adorn her garters and suspenders, with a four-loop bow sitting at the base of her tail. The ends float freely, reminiscent of a nine-tailed fox.
On the other side, black fabric drapes from her right arm and from her waist. You can also see the tight leash the Duchess keeps on this vixen looping around and dangling a silver key over her chest. Does it open the front of her bodysuit, I wonder…? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
On the base, red roses bloom beside blue campanulas. Note, however, that the roses are not painted. While one is truly red, the other one is tinted red, blushing with the color of the blood at its roots. The thorns, too, take on a purple-ish hue as they wrap their vines around the old tree.
This foxy feline will make you lose your head! She will be appearing at our store, grin and all, at the end of May. Pre-order today to make sure she doesn’t vanish!
You know how skittish cats can be when we want to be with them. ฅ(ミᓀᆽᓂミ)∫
Until next time! ლ(=ↀωↀ=)
